Kathleen Gale (Kat) Murray

Kathleen (Kat) Gale Murray passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on December 10, 2016.  She was born  April 22, 1956 in Columbia, S.C. to Clement and Clementine Murray.  Kathleen graduated early from Keenan High School and worked several years at Colonial Life.  Later, she started working at Richland Memorial Hospital, and became the Pager Administrator for Palmetto Health’s hospitals, having worked there twenty-plus years.  She took her responsibilities very seriously and her accomplishments proudly.

Kathleen’s passion was cats, and in addition to her five house cats, she faithfully maintained a feral cat colony, feeding them before and after work.  She trapped, spayed/neutered, and released homeless cats and kittens.  She loved them like her own, giving each one a name.  She also loved gardening and was an avid reader.

Surviving are her sister, Lula Camp, who will miss her terribly;brother, Warren Murray (Wanda); her nephew, Chavous Camp (Andrea); and grandniece, Helen, whom she adored.  She was predeceased by her husband, George M. (Morty) Berry, her parents, and brother, James Murray.  

A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Forest Drive on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at 3:00pm, with visitation at 2:30 in the narthex.
