A Celebration of the life of Jerome Dontae (“Jamar”) Johnson, 36 of Columbia will be held 1:00 pm Saturday June 9, 2012 in the chapel of Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Entombment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday June 8, 2012 at the funeral home. Dontae as he was called by his family and many friends was born to Jerome Johnson and Carolyn Dianne Murray on January 16, 1976. Dontae departed his earthly home for his heavenly mansion on Saturday, June 2, 2012.
Dontae was a loving child, father, brother and uncle. He attended the Florence County School District #1 and Macolm X Shabazz High School in New Jersey. He was employed as a maintenance specialist for David G.
Dontae accepted Christ as his Savior at a tender young age.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Norman Murray Jr. and Mattie L. Murray and Thelma Johnson
Dontae leaves to cherish his memories his mother of the home, Carolyn D. Murray, Roseland Wheeler and Delores Toney a second mother. Father, Jerome Johnson of New Jersey and Mr. Lee who was like a father to him. One daughter Sophia Jay in Oklahoma. Two sisters, Ameica L. Banks of Germany, and Kashia R. (Alex) Doyle of Columbia, SC. Two brothers Julio Johnson of Killian, TX, Christopher Wyleek Cummings of Florence, SC. Five aunts Margaret McIver of Florence, SC. Sheila Murray, Vernita Holmes, Anita Williams, and Portia Johnson all of New Jersey. A special uncle Norman V. Murray of Florence, SC. (Uncles), Savannah Johnson of California, Ronnie Johnson of Florence,SC. Nieces and nephews Jermaine, Jumenice (Brian), Jamie, Jeremiah, Keshawn, Jagrasseilliers, and Kriovanni. Two great aunts, Julia Murray and Vernitia (Leech), and a great- great Aunt Queenie M. Bailey. One very close friend Tiffany Rouse. A host of cousins, relatives and friends.
