Denise Christine Herbin

A funeral service for Denise Christine Littleton Herbin, of Columbia, SC, formerly of Camden, SC, Rembert, SC and Paterson, NJ, will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Trinity Baptist Church, 2521 Richland Street, Columbia, SC 29204.  The family will receive friends Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 4645 Hard Scrabble Road, Columbia, SC 29229 and thirty minutes prior to the service at the church.  Flowers may be ordered through the funeral home website or delivered to the funeral home for transportation to the church.  A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the family, with donations to be sent to Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home and designated for the Denise Herbin Memorial Fund.

Ms. Herbin died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the age of 61.  She was born on September 16, 1953 in Paterson, NJ and was the daughter of Christine Martin Littleton and Allen Littleton.  She was employed as a Community Health Specialist at South Carolina HIV/AIDS Council and was also a certified phlebotomist.  She was previously employed by Palmetto AIDS Life Support Service and the Women’s Resource Center.  She also previously worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant.  She loved her Lord and Savior and attended Trinity Baptist Church.

Denise was a beautiful, gracious, talented and loving lady who dedicated her life to the welfare and support of her family and her community.  She was generous and caring, volunteering much of her time in helping others.  She was a member of the South Carolina Campaign to End AIDS, South Carolina HIV/AIDS Care Crisis Task Force, Positive Voices, WISE Women, Positive Women’s Network and was an assisting facilitator at the Women’s Empowerment Academy.  She was also a Positive Living (of Ft. Walton Beach, FL) alumni and had been recently inducted into the 20/20 Leading Women Society by SisterLove of Atlanta, GA.

Ms. Herbin is survived by her husband, Marlin Akbar Herbin, of Lugoff, SC; mother Christine Martin Littleton, of Paterson, NJ; daughter Latica Lynnette Gibson of Atlanta, GA; daughter Sheila Denise Littleton and son John Edward Daron Littleton, both of Columbia; daughter Lanice Dawn Jones of Florence, SC; 9 grandchildren; a great grandchild on the way and many other loved ones who will miss her dearly.  Denise was an angel on this earth and now her lord has called her home to join him as an angel up in heaven.
