Charlotte Upshur Melson was born January 5, 1930, in Northampton County, Virginia to Charlotte Brittingham Upshur and L. Roy Upshur, Sr. She was married forty-four years to Jack Fisher Melson, Sr. Charlotte is survived by four sons, Jack F. Melson, Jr. of Norfolk, VA; Larry U. Melson and wife, Judy, of Blythewood, SC; Gregory W. Melson and wife, Kerry, of Pawleys Island, SC; Paul A. Melson of New Bern, NC. Six grandchildren, Charlotte York Friedman and husband, Todd, of Park City, UT; Jack F. Melson, III of Charleston, SC; Gregory W. Melson, Jr. and wife, Laura; Tod C. Melson of Lexington, KY; Roy A. Melson of Myrtle Beach, SC; Dylan C. Melson of Pawleys Island, SC. Four great grandchildren, Avery R. Melson; Eston F. J. Friedman; Cooper L. Brannan; Keileigh R. Brannan. The funeral service will be held on August 20, 2016, at 10:00 A.M., at Grace Episcopal Church in Asheville, NC. A private graveside service for the family will be held following the funeral at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher, NC.
