David was born in Harlan,Kentucky to parents James David Hensley and Saundra Ann Hensley- throughout his life he was known for being a die-hard Carolina and Kentucky fan (No really. Yelling, swearing, red-in-the-face, the whole enchilada). He was a computer programmer and system analyst for the South Carolina Department of Transportation throughout most of his career (Which, while something his children thought was very boring, was something he was quite loyal to). Of course he was also known for his sense of humor- even if it often resulted in much eye rolling and groaning on the behalf of others. Another of his favorite pass-times was the telling of stories about his four children, much to their mortification and embarrassment. He was lost due to injuries sustained in a tragic and catastrophic accident on the road while riding his motorcycle- something he very much loved to do.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Lillian Eloise Hensley, his two brothers; Mike and Larry Hensley, along with his four children; Benjamin David Hensley, Grayson Alexander Hensley, Saundra Lynn Hensley, and Alyssa Marie Hensley.
His famous last words were to his son, Grayson Hensley and are as follows; "Grab yourself one of the doughnuts off the table and put it in the microwave for a couple of seconds".
