A graveside service with full military honors for Melvin Lee Rector, of Blythewood, will be held at 10am on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Kornegay & Moseley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, SC Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd, Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.
Mr. Rector passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the age of 82. Born on January 23, 1933 in Coupland, TX he was the son of the late Charles Rector and Lillie Jones Rector. He was served in France, Germany, Japan and Vietnam as a paratrooper with the 101st during his time in the Unites States Army. He eventually retired from the Air Force Reserves as a Tech Sergeant.
He is survived by his wife, Greta Darrylin Rector; daughters, Angela Darlene Rector; grandchildren, Kaylee and Dean Boilek; numerous nieces and nephews. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
