I just wrote this for my mom. Seems appropriate with lighting a candle for her. So I will share it here with those that love her. For my lovely mom.....
The Wick
Surrounded by superficial beauty
Scents and wax so colorfully bright
That nobody notices the source within
That provides us their radiant light
Some are meant to burn for hours
While others can’t survive the wind
Struggling to glow just one more day
Until their light goes dim
So before the flame waivers and dies
It only requires a whisper …be quick
Take a moment to look beyond the shell
And see through to their inner wick
Dedicated to my mom
