A memorial mass for Juan M. Cruz, of Columbia, will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015 in the chapel of Kornegay & Moseley, with Father Javier Heredia officiating. The mass will conclude with full military honors.
Mr. Cruz passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at the age of 86. Born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Victoriano Cruz and Dolores Melendez. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years and was a Vietnam veteran. Juan was a loving husband, who was everything to his wife, Yira. He was a wonderful father, brother and uncle, who was irreplacable to those that loved him. He was full of life and fun-loving, and his memory will always be cherished.
Juan is survived by his wife, Yira; son, Angel Cruz; siblings, Lidia Cruz, Antonia Cruz and Josefa Cruz; nieces and nephews, Nilsa Cruz, Jose Rafael Cruz, Alicia Foskett and Kimberly Barragan; friends and family, Yarelis Mavre, Zoila Mojica, Tilma Cruz, Rebecca Yanis, Maria Harkey, and Tariel Barragan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rafael Cruz.
