Hermine (Lempke) Brown

Hermine Lempke Brown .....sometimes one life time is not enough Hermine Lempke Brown, 92, died peacefully on May 5, 2016. She was born in Florida, NY and lived Columbia, SC coming from Stuart FL; and Ocean Grove, Parsippany, and Bloomfield, NJ. She married the love of her life, "Brownie", in 1942 after he returned from serving in Europe during WWII. Their love story reflected the devotion they had for each other throughout their 60 year marriage. She was a loving and kind homemaker while they raised 3 children. She attended Susquehanna University before the war and then persevered 10 years of night school to earn her BA in 1970. She devoted 15 years to teaching in Parsippany, NJ. She had a passion for adventure, and she and Brownie traveled the world, touring 75 countries. She loved singing in the choir and was a member of the League of Women Voters, National Education Association, the Red Hat Ladies Club, Celebration Singers, as well as other volunteer activities. She was the historian of our family and loved to create thoughtful gifts for family and friends. She made life-long friendships everywhere she went and everything was more fun when she was around. Somehow she was able to combine fine dining with healthy eating and fitness. Faced with ever increasing loss, she demonstrated strength and courage even to the end of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph C. Brown Jr. and son, Donald Alan Brown. Survivors include daughters Pamela Brown Bulak of Columbia, SC, Patricia (Brown) Moore of Arlington, WA, son-in-law Marvin Moore, and two grandchildren, Kelly Brown Bulak of Columbia, SC, and Christopher Lynn Bowden of Arlington, WA. She also leaves behind loving nieces, nephews, and friends. There will be a memorial service at the Crossings of Columbia at 2 pm on Wednesday May 11, 2016.
