William Dallas Obituary

William Osgood Dallas, 60, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Atrium Hospital in Pineville NC.

“Billy D” as he was known by his family and friends loved the outdoors.  He loved to fish, tend garden and was an avid hunter.  He had been looking forward to deer hunting this fall with his Uncle Buddy.  He loved music.  A self-taught guitar player he was quite accomplished on both acoustic and electric guitars.  Many a night he would sit for hours playing and singing.  He loved to entertain his family and friends and was always up for a little “pickin” as he called it.  And of course, he loved his family.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents Horace Lee and Shirley Pettus Dallas, formerly of Indian Land, his maternal grandparents Ola and Osgood Pettus of Indian Land and paternal grandparents Javie and Olin Baker of Monroe. NC.

Billy is survived by his siblings Deborah Dallas Burns (Steve) of Tirzah, SC, Catherine Dallas Manning (Joel) of Rock Hill SC, and John Thomas Dallas (Stacy) of Myrtle Beach SC.   He will be missed by his niece Melissa Burns of Tirzah, and nephews Justin Carpenter of Myrtle Beach, and Will and Trey Mungo of Rock Hill.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Linsey Marie Dallas and her son Novah William Dallas, and Mary Ann Dallas and her children Stormy Jordan and McKenzie Johnson, all of Georgia. He will be greatly missed by his lifelong friend Jeff Griffin of Lancaster, South Carolina.

Billy was blessed to have a large extended family of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins who he held dear in his heart.  The Dallas family would like to thank Buddy (John) and Rita Pettus for opening their home to Billy in his final months as he received treatment and also Ann Hewett Smith and Julie Pettus who were his primary caregivers during this time.
