A 66 year love affair moves to another plane. Marjorie Morris Lee passed away Wednesday, December 3rd, surrounded by the love of her entire family. She is survived by her adoring husband of 64 years, Gary; three children, Cindy Lindsay of Columbia, Mark Lee of Miami Beach and David Lee and his wife Jill of Lexington; her grandchildren Christopher Lee, Rachel Lee and her fiance Nick Flores, Joseph Lee, Garrett Riley, and Caitlin Riley; her great-grandchildren Makayla, Madelyn and Lani; her brother James Lin Morris and sister-in-law Jackie Morris, and beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Burnett Morris of Sumter and sister-in-law Charlene Aycock Morris of Columbia.
She grew up the daughter of Dorothy Bryant Morris and James Edward Morris and lived in Sumter, Pinewood, Orangeburg, Olar and Denmark. She spent the next 20 years traveling the country as an Air Force wife. She graduated with honors from the University of California, Riverside. Upon returning to Columbia she spent 22 years teaching at Windsor Elementary School. She also taught adult reading at Midlands Technical College, always believing the ability to read well would change lives for the better.
A memorial service will be held at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, with private interment at Fort Jackson National Military Cemetery.
