Lillian M. McCleod

Lillian M. McLeod was born on March 6th, 1924 in Marion, SC to the late Zack and Leona Washington.  She departed this life on February 23rd, 2019 at her home in Elgin, SC.  She attended high school at Marion County Training Center in Marion, SC.  At the age of 17, Lillian moved to Lumberton, NC and then onto NY at the age of 18, where she lived for 77 years before relocating back to South Carolina in 2017.

Lillian was married on October 14th, 1967 to the late Lamarr McLeod.  She was employed at B. Steinberg in Manhattan, NY and other major businesses as a jewel buyer in the NYC Diamond District for many years before retiring. 

Lillian confessed Christ at an early age and her church home was Holy Temple Church of Jesus Christ in Summerton, SC where she remained a faithful member until her death.

Lillian leaves to cherish her memory, herloving nieces; Gwendolyn Washington of Sacramento, CA, Bernadette (John) Harris of Sierra Vista, AZ, Doris (Steve) Maule of Lumberton, NC, Beverly (Ollie) Gerald of Mint Hill, NC, Victoria (Delgado) Lopez of Las Vegas, NV, and Denise (James) Blanding of Elgin, SC; her loving nephews; Benjamin (Julie) Campbell of Austin, TX, John (Michelle) Brown of Bronx, NY, Tony Campbell of Vacaville, CA, Ivan Brown of Manassas, VA, Corwin (Martha) Brown of Dover, NJ, Michael (Michelle) Brown of West Hackettstown, NJ, Reginald (Alice) Henry of Tampa, FL, and Richard Washington of Forest Hills, NY; one stepdaughter, Francine McDaniel of Boardman, OH; eleven great nieces; fourteen great nephews; one sister-in-law, Hornrette Washington, of Corona, NY; The Blanding Family, The Johnson Family, her Holy Temple of Jesus Christ Family,  two cousins; Pansey Kennedy and Kemry Israel both of New Britain, CT and a host of family and friends who adored her. 

Five siblings preceded her in death; three sisters; Katie Mae (Albert) Peterson, Lee Helen Washington, and Amelia Brown; two brothers; Zachary Washington and William Washington.
