Lee Owens Obituary

Lee Vern (Buddy) Owens 70, of Lexington, S.C.,  left us to be with the Lord on July 30, 2018.  A Memorial Service will be held at Greenhaven Preserve, 1701 Vanboklen Road, Eastover, S.C. 29044 on Saturday, August 11, at 2 pm.   Buddy served his country in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War 1966 to 1969.  He was a licensed contractor and owned Owens Construction Company for many years. He was the owner and operator of The Plantation Room in West Columbia where many friendships were made.  Buddy was an avid USC fan, and loved his Gamecocks. His hobbies were playing golf, fishing, and cooking for friends and family.

Buddy was born July 4th, 1948 in Aynor, S.C.  He is predeceased in death by his father, Vern Lee Owens; step-father, Jessie Thomas Lundy; and brother, William Jessie Lundy. He is survived by: his mother, Vienna Lundy Teal; sister, Linda Sauls; sister, Kathy Watts (Owen); sister Cora Chestnut (Kelly); daughter Victoria Lynn Owens; grandson, Bobby Terrell Branch, and great grandsons, Nathan Terrell Branch and Noah Wayne Branch and nieces and nephews.

Buddy never gave into self pity in spite of liver transplant, heart attacks, stroke, COPD, kidney failure requiring dialysis, head injury, and cancer.  He fought a courageous battle until the very end.  The last week of his life was spent at Warriors Walk, Dorn VA Hospital where he was lovingly and respectfully cared for by the staff, volunteers, family, and his closest friends.
