Joyce Creel

Joyce Ledford Creel, 74, of Elgin passed Tuesday August 8, 2023. Born December 29, 1948 in Summerville, SC. Joyce was a Graduate of St. George High School, Baptist College of Charleston and The Citadel (Master’s Degree). She started teaching at St. George Elementary School in 1972 and taught the majority of her career at Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary in Columbia and Retired from teaching in 2004. Joyce was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church since 1985, over the years she served as Sunday school teacher, youth leader, choir member and on the Welcome committee. 

Joyce was Preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Frances Ledford and her sister Louise Goude. She is Survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Glenn of Elgin; son Dwayne (Celeste) Creel of Chapin, SC; daughter Glenda (Justin) Carnes of Rock Hill, SC;   grandsons Chase and Evan Creel and Spencer and Cooper Carnes; and her brother Mike Ledford of Caseyville, Illinois. 

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:30 am Friday August 11, 2023 at Spring Valley Baptist Church. The family will  receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:15 amat the church prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Greenhaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory at Spring Valley Baptist Church.
