Jerry F. Douglas, originally from Barnwell, SC followed by Columbia, SC and Sevierville, TN passed peacefully on July 6, 2021. He was the youngest son of Mattie Priester Douglas and Albert Mayfield Douglas, both predeceased. He is also predeceased by his brothers Albert Douglas of Columbia, Paul Douglas of Rochester, NY, and Laten Douglas of Charleston, SC. He served his country as an Army Atomic Veteran from 1956-1959 in the Marshall Islands during the Cold War. He returned to SC and married Julia M. Drogosh, of Detroit, Michigan in 1959-1982. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Kathey D. Hennessy of Blythewood, SC, a son-in-law Chris Hennessy, and his 2 beloved grandsons, James Steadman of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Matthew Steadman of Columbia, SC as well as his sister Louise Cook of Fairfax, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. Throughout his life he helped many who crossed his path that needed a helping handand all of his friends and family will miss his charming presence in their lives. His life will be celebrated on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at 2 pm at Celestial Memorial Gardens in West Columbia, SC. Friends and family are invited to attend and tell a story about him in their lives and help celebrate the giving friend, father, grandfather, family member that he was.
