Emily Lynn Martin

Emily Lynn Martin was born on December 3, 1998 in Sandy, Utah. She moved to South Carolina with her mother and sister in 2009. 

Emily graduated from Richland Northeast High School in June 2018. She knew nothing about cars, but she went to work for O’Reilly Auto Parts where she loved her job and her coworkers. Emily was an animal lover, and had a pet hedgehog (Jamil) and two guinea pigs (Pancake and Waffle). She was never afraid to speak what she thought, and never apologized for her feelings. She loved anime, xbox, and ramen noodles.

Emily was a majority member of Dentsville Assembly #40, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, for which she completed multiple hours of community service and served as a role model and friend. 

Emily passed away on July 20, 2021 in Columbia, South Carolina.

She is survived by her parents, Scott Lee Martin and Sherry Lynette Prichard Martin of Columbia, SC, her sister, Alexandra Lynette Martin Rolin, and her brother in law, Corey Miller Rolin, of Gilbert, SC and sister, Mashell Lee Kingery Gibson and her brother in law Joshua  William Gibson, her nephew Patrick Glenn Kingery-Gibson and Isabel Victoria Gibson. She was anticipating the arrival of her niece  Adelaide Louise Gibson in November.

 

She is also survived by her grandparents, Josephine Prichard of Columbia, SC; Paul and Barbara Prichard of Lexington, SC; and Raymond Cato of Cottonwood, AZ. She is predeceased by her grandmother, Malanie Cato of Cottonwood, AZ.

Emily is survived by her many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she loved very much. Emily had many friends and acquaintances who saw her light every day. Her family hopes that everyone remembers her kind soul and overwhelming compassion for others. They thank everyone who has loved their sweet Em. 

A service will be held for Emily on July 24, 2021 at Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home 4645 Hardscrabble Road in Columbia, South Carolina. Visitation is from 1:00-3:00 pm with a funeral to follow at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, 11020 Two Notch Road in Elgin, South Carolina. 

Service will be officiated by Willis Jenkins. Bagpipes will be played by Jon Jones. Pallbearers include Emily’s cousin, Dr. Adam Hairr; and friends John Robert Bowker, Andrew “Pudge” Hermann, Jason Schulties, Michael Ryback, Brian Bowker, Andrew Bull, and William Bull. Honorary pallbearers include the members of Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and Blue Iron Medics.
