Delfina “Fina” Natividad Propst
Delfina Natividad Propst, wife of John Woodrow Propst, CSM (RET)began her journey to the Lord on November 1, 2020, All Saints Day, surrounded by her loving family at home in Columbia, South Carolina
Fina was born on December 24, 1939. Her journey through life began in Panama, Central America. Her and John met at Ft. William D. Davis,Panama and then married on December 1, 1962. As amilitary spouse, she won multiple awards while supporting her husband as well as other military wives during their husbands’ deployment. Her days were spent praying for her family, crafts and outside gardening. Her children treasured the days she could care for all the grandchildren as did she when speaking of those memories daily. She was a devoted Catholic, and a member of St. John Neumann Church. She became a United States Citizen through Naturalization in 1987. Fina loved to travel to her home in Santiago, Panama annually with her husband and visit our distant relatives. She served alongside her husband as a military spouse for thirty years and both retired here in Columbia, SC. Fina’s life revolved around her husband and children. She instilled in her childrenfaith, love and strong values that proved vital to the success they experience to this day.
Fina is survived by her loving husband John Propst, 58years of marriage, her beloved children, John Woodrow Propst, David Lee Propst and his love Carla, Virginia J Turner and husband Jody, Gloria Rita Halverson and husband Steve and grandchildren, Lauren Magaly Palacios and husband Manuel, Cole Martin Halverson and his love Madeline and John Brandon Propst and his wife Gabriella and great-granddaughter, Elianna.
A celebration of Fina’s life will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday November 5, 2020 at St. John Neumann Church, 100 Polo Road, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday November 4, 2020 at the funeral home. She will be buried at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC.
