Dannis “DK” Knight Obituary

Dannis W. “DK” Knight, of Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020, in Blythewood, South Carolina.

He is the son of the late Lester Vernon and Elizabeth Nix Knight. He is also predeceased by two brothers Ernest and Kenneth and three half-brothers Hubert, Ivan, and Raymond.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Frances née Hicks; children, Travis W. (Ann Marie), Leslie (Larry), and Melanie; sisters Joy Breland, Janice Clark (Leonard), and Cathy Elliott (Jimmy); nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He served in the Army including a tour of duty in Vietnam. DK was a millwright for more than 40 years until retiring from Container Corporation in Fernandina Beach in 2009. A native of Fernandina Beach, he also lived and worked in Old Town and Lake Butler, Florida. He was a member of Yulee Baptist Church and had served as a deacon and song leader at New Prospect Baptist Church in Cross City, Florida.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
