Carol “Lynn” Brautlacht Obituary

A service to celebrate the life of Carol “Lynn” Brautlacht will be held Tuesday, June 15th 2021 at 11:00 am at the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC.  Reverend Angela Marshall will officiate the service.  Lynn was born on April 20th, 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland.  She was the loving daughter of the late John Raymond Schillinberg, Jr. and Edna “Carolyn”Schillinberg.

Lynn passed away after a short courageous battle with Cancer on June 2nd, 2021.  Lynn spent most of her life in Baltimore, Maryland but moved to South Carolina in 2004 to be with her daughter and grandchildren.

Lynn married the love of her life Brad in 1971.   They met at the National Security Agency in Maryland.  Together, they had one daughter named Dawn Lee who was born at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts.  When Dawn was 6 months old, the family moved to Baltimore, Maryland and lived there until 2004 until moving to South Carolina when retiring.  Lynn truly loved anything Maryland- Steamed Crabs, Baltimore Ravens and Orioles, Old Bay, Chesapeake Bay, Ocean City, and the Star Spangled Banner.  Even though she lived in South Carolina, she would always consider Maryland her home. Another true love of Lynn was her grandchildren, who they affectionately called her “Grammy”.  She beamed when speaking of Xander (22), Logan(20), London (12), and Laykin (9).  Lynn was very quick to tell you a story of what they each were up to and their recent accomplishments.  Lynn loved the beach, arts and crafts, and music-especially Elvis, The Beatles, and Billy Joel.  Lynn and Dawn had made it a mother/daughter tradition to go to Billy Joel concerts (they actually went 19 times and would have gone to their 20th next April).  Anyone who would meet Lynn would tell you she was a true sweetheart and had a heart of gold.  You could always count on her to be there when you needed her.  Her presence and loving character is forever embedded in her daughter and grandchildren, who will forever be grateful for herbeing the best Mom and Grammy they could have ever had.

Lynn proudly served as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.   She will be missed daily.  Lynn is preceded in death by her loving husband, Brad of almost 50 years.  She is survived by her daughter Dawn and Son in Law Wade and 4 grandchildren: Xander (Kiyone), Logan (Kayla), London, and Laykin.  Lynn is also survived by her cousins, countless extended family, and many good friends.
