Columbia, South Carolina - Beatrice Barbara Hordych, Miss Bea, was reunited with her Lord and Savior on January 10th after a prolonged illness. She was born on July 7,1926 in Guttenberg, New Jersey. She is the last Hordych of her generation and only daughter and child of Henry and Anna Walser. She graduated from Memorial H.S. in New Jersey and spent all of her working days in North Jersey until finally retiring from her position of Administrative Assistant to the Legal Vice President of Coca Cola of New York. She moved to South Carolina in 1994 and lived in her home NE Columbia.
Miss Bea, as those close to her called her, immediately deeply involved in a number of senior activities at Maxie Gregg Park as well as working with the Gardening Committees in both her subdivision and St John Neumann Roman Catholic Church in Columbia. Additionally, she was a volunteer at God’s Storehouse and, as an animal right to life believer and activist, she was totally involved with volunteering and working closely with the Animal Protection League in Hopkins for the care and adoption of cats from the North East Pet Smart store until she was 86.
She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph, and her daughter, Marianne, and is survived by her son, Gerald Hordych, and his wife Lori living in Durham, North Carolina along with 5 Grand Children and 7 Great Grand Children, spread out from Erie, Pennsylvania to Orlando, Florida.

Funeral services are being made through Kornegay and Moseley Funeral home in NE Columbia and have yet to be scheduled however, the family asks that in lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to the Animal Protect League shelter in Hopkins, South Carolina.
