I was saddened to hear of Mr. Moore's passing, but know that he is now where he longed to be....with his dear wife, and face to face with Jesus. Knowing that He will hold you all during this time of change, and knowing that memories will live on and comfort you all. I feel blessed to have known him, and had the many long talks with him, (that didn't seem like work at all)
Blessings to the family,
Randi

Joede, thank you so much for your posting. While I do not know you personally, I did attend Bessemer High, too, but a couple years later in 1956, and I do remember your name. I appreciate your remembering him.

Heather, thank you so much for your kind words. It has been a sad, yet comforting, time for me and my family because we know that Rex is in a far better place and no longer suffering. I will miss him but I am thankful that I had many years here in Columbia to enjoy his company and re-live old times when we both were much younger and all the stories that came out of this. Love you. Betty

Thank you, sweet friend, for all you have done during this time. Rex loved your visits and cards and I appreciated that you cared so much to remember him. It is too bad he missed out on the blonde brownies and fudge brownies. I ate a few in his honor though. So glad that you could come to the visitation in Columbia. The staff of Kornegay and Moseley in Columbia did an excellent job for us. The service in Alabama was a beautiful one, too. The music was outstanding. You would have loved it. Thanks again, with love, Betty.

It is hard to say goodbye to one of my best friends, and who just happens to be my brother. It is made easier because I know he is in a much better place and safe in the arms of Jesus. I have such wonderful memories stored away and no doubt I will draw on them in the days to come. Thank you, Rex, for being the best brother a sister could have. It was humbling to see and meet all of your friends who came today to celebrate your life with us. Many thanks to the staff of Kornegay and Moseley Funeral Home for taking such good care of you. Till we meet again, Rex, you will be in my heart always, Sis.

I wanted to reach out to you during this sad time to offer my condolences. While nothing will completely take away your grief, by meditating on God’s promises found in the Bible, you can find real hope and the strength to keep going. I have found the scripture at Isaiah 25:8 to be especially comforting. Here it promises that God "will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces."

Mr. Rex was such a great influence on me as a teenager growing up at North Highlands Batist Church. Once some friends and me rolled his yard! We thought we had gotten away with it but him & Nancy told me at church "Thanks for the beautiful artwork!". They had stood watching from their window. Rex will always have a special place in my heart.

Just to let you know that your post brought a big smile to my face. Rex and Nancy had a great sense of humor and I know both got a big kick out the "rolling." Thank you for sharing this. Betty Moore Whitfield
