Peter Nicholas, born October 20, 2017, in Little Falls, New York. He was a 1935 graduate of Franfort High School. He married Joan Maxian on October 10, 1954.

 

He opened Nicholas Coffee Shop which remained in operation from 1935 until 1978, where he never refused to serve any customer who was hungry and without money. He worked for Truck Stops of America from 1979 until 1995, and was awarded the Employee of the year in 1981. He never called in sick and only took time off due to the death of his son.

 

Mr. Nicholas served in WWII for three and a half years in the Army, where he took charge of cooking for the soldiers. In 2008, he moved to South Caroline with his wife to live with Dondi. His four years included many adventures, including, a ride on a camel, parades, hot air balloon rides, enjoying a Glenn Miller Concert, a ride in a sidecar on a motorcycle, and of course the State Fair. He also went to Washington, DC, with his daughters, Ann and Dondi, on the Honor Flight two years ago.

 

Pete always had a story to tell and kissed the hand of all the women he met. He will be missed but is now in Heaven with his son Ted.

 

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine and a half years, Joan, daughters, Dondi of Elgin, SC, Ann of Midland, VA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Nikki Jo, 21, Ted, 19, Katie, 18, Nick, 16. He has many nieces and nephews including, “Big Ted,” who was like another son to him.

 

He is a Moose member, a lifetime American Legion member, and also a member of the D.A.V..

 

He was predeceased by his son Ted, sisters, Dena, Georgia, Teddy, and Sophie.

 

A special thanks to Heart Strings Hospice for the care and letting Pete stay home and all that helped with Dad the past couple of years, also his grandson, Ted for all he did. Pete will be remembered for his big Heart, Love of dancing with Mom, and stores He shard. “WE MISS YOU”
