Nelle Flewellen

Martha Nelle Flewellen passed away on April 5, 2018. She was born on November 3, 1930, and was raised in Ocilla, Georgia and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Nelle received a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She taught second grade at schools in Florida before “retiring” to become a full-time wife and mother. She loved hiking and bicycling in many different places, and was also an avid bridge player. Nelle is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bill Flewellen, daughter Linda Flewellen Gould (Bob), and four grandchildren: Stephen McKinney, Lilly Flewellen, Mary Salazar, and Daniel Gould. She was predeceased by her daughter Sandra Flewellen. Her family wants to especially thank the staff at South Carolina Oncology Associates and Palmetto Health Hospice for their care for her. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018, 2:00 p.m., at Northeast Presbyterian Church, preceded by visitation there with the family from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in honor of Nelle to either Northeast Presbyterian Church or the South Carolina Oncology Associates Cares Foundation.
