TSGT(Retired) Marion Benton – A man of God departed this life on Monday, April, 17 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born to the union of Lilar & William Benton in Savannah, Georgia on November 1, 1943. He was preceded in death by mother, Lilar Benton, father, William Benton, son, Alfred Stewart, brothers:William and Marvin Benton; sisters: Elease Roberts, Emma Benton-Spencer and Eva Pearl Benton.
He served his country proudly for a total of 23 years in both the Army and Air Force. He was also a Vietnam War Veteran.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories a loving and devotedwife of 47 years, Eliza Benton; five children: Terrance (Lori)Benton, Marion “Danny” William Benton, Sammie Anton Benton (Helga), James (Clarice) Jones Sr, Michael (Melody) Ayers; eight grandchildren: Ashton Benton, Erik Benton, Courtney Bennett, Andre Jones, James Jones Jr, Jasmine Jones, Adonis Ayers, and Kayla Benton; two great-grandchildren: Mya Jones and Justice Rose; remaining siblings: Charlie Benton, Dorothy Benton, Isadell Benton, Janie Benton. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Marion’s homegoing service will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 11:00am. A repass will be held at 1021 Clemson Frontage Rd, Columbia, SC 29229 at Hampton Inn in the Meeting Room following the service.
