Margaret Nassaney Mellette, 89, longtime resident of Forest Acres, passed away peacefully on Feb. 8, 2017, in Columbia. She is survived by sons Rusty (Scott), Tony (Cathy), Johnny (Loraine), and Tommy (Joyce), and grandchildren Justin Mellette, Ph.D.; Dr. Beth Mellette (Gideon Tate); and Melissa Mellette.
Margaret was born on March 30, 1927, in Florence, S.C. She was married to the late Russell E. Mellette, originally of Sumter.
She ran a successful hair salon for 30 years, after which she became a state inspector of salons. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a member of the O'Brien Guild. After retiring from the state, she worked for 10 years in the Providence Hospital gift shop and became involved with the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine.
The family will receive friends on Saturday February 11, 2017 in the Chapel mausoleum at Greenlawn Cemetery at 9:00 am prior to the service at 10:00 am. Interment will be private at the graveside in Greenlawn Cemetery. Kornegay & Moseley is assisting the family with arrangements.
