June Corrine Godin, long-time resident of Hampden County, passed away Friday the 17th of March, in Columbia, SC.

June was born on June 18, 1924, in Chicopee Falls Mass and graduated from High School of Commerce in June of 1942. She was a lifelong, devoted, member of the Hampden Federated Church, where she was on several committees and was a deaconess, in charge of ushers and chairman of the music committee.

June volunteered as a Red Cross Nurse’s Aide during World War II from 1943 to 1945 and also worked as Time Keeper in Van Norman during the War. While she was raising her children, June worked as an Avon Representative. Once they were school age, she went on to work in Hallmark stores, eventually as manager of the Eastfield Mall store, where she worked for 30 years.

All who were fortunate enough to make her acquaintance admired June’s friendly, positive, and warm personality. June also showed her love and care for her friends and loved ones through the thoughtful, personalized, greeting cards she sent on every occasion. June enjoyed reading, card games, traveling and spending time with her family. June will always be loved, cherished, and missed by her two children, Robert E. Godin and Lisa A. Cazalet, granddaughter Melissa Cazalet and her husband Nate Webb, and two grandsons, Colin and Spencer Godin.

June is the daughter of Lillian Tompkins who died in September 1986. She was married June 25, 1945 to Vincent R. Godin who died in February 1993.

A memorial service will be held at the Hampden Federated Community Church at 11:00 AM on April 1st, 2017. All are welcome to attend and celebrate June’s beautiful life.
