Joseph "Joe" James Joyce

​Joseph "Joe" James Joyce, 70, of Eastover, SC passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at home where he was being cared for by his former wife, Alvina “Bonnie” Joyce Herlong. Joe was born in Manhattan, NY to Emily Gurdak Joyce and Joseph Joyce.  Joe was drafted into the Army in 1970 and later moved to South Carolina after being stationed at Ft. Jackson. Joe and Bonnie were married in 1972.  Joe is a veteran of the Vietnam War and returned to South Carolina where he and Bonnie were the caretakers of American Legion Post 6 (Legion Lake) from 1979 thru 1987. Joe retired in 2015 after many years of being in the Vinyl Siding business.  

​Joe is survived by his former wife, Alvina "Bonnie" Joyce Herlong of Eastover, SC; their three children, Nichoelle Joyce of Bermenton, WA, Janine Joyce and her fiancé Allen Butler of Elgin, SC, and Danielle Glasco and her husband SFC Jeremy C. Glasco of Ft. Knox, KY; grandchildren, Timothy J. Peake "Tj", Emily Peake, Jordan Peake, Quentin Shaver, Madison Bartlebaugh and her husband LCPL Steven Bartlebaugh, Morgan Webster, Angel Anderson and her husband CPL Cody Anderson, Courtney Butler, Brianna Butler, James Davis, and Brianna Davis; great grandchildren, Isabella and Kylie Anderson.  

He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Prater and her husband Bryant of Grand Prairie, TX and Linda Lampinen and Judy Linsky, both of Manhattan, NY. Joe is survived by his niece, Valerie Szabo and her husband Michael of Huston, TX and a nephew, Christopher Wilson and his wife Marya of Ovilla, TX and their four children. Joe is also survived by his extended family whom are very dear to his heart: his in-laws, Roberta Mullins, Frances and Larry Redding, Lucine and Jimmy Garris, and Vera and Brad Weed and their eight children. ​
