Dorothy passed away on Monday April 9, 2018, at the age of 80. She graduated from Cornell in 1959, and married her husband, Bernie, the same year. She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret Coyne Snyder and Edgar Snyder. Dorothy leaves behind her husband Bernard Knowles, and children Linda Lord Jaffe and husband Alan Jaffe, Allen Knowles, and Russell Knowles and wife Maggie Knowles, as well as grandchildren Victoria Lord, Lauren Jaffe, and Sarah, Anna, and David Knowles. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Originally from Philadelphia, she is best known in Columbia for founding Very’s Great Philly Food with her husband, where she was beloved by staff and customers alike. There was no one happier and more optimistic. She would always bring a smile to the faces of anyone, and everyone, around her. The family will be holding a private service.
