John Dillard Jacobs, 76, of Columbia passed away Sunday February 5, 2017. He was born in Clinton SC and was the son of the late Thomas Dillard and Marion Cox Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs was a graduate of Wofford College with a degree in Government and worked thirty seven and half years for the SC Employment Security Commission, retiring in 2005.
Mr. Jacobs is survived by his wife of 31 years Argent Smith; children, Thomas Dillard Jacobs of Columbia and Dr. Lee Dailey and her husband, G.W. Dailey of Clinton; 3 granddaughters, Mary Catherine, Chandler and Elizabeth Dailey of Clinton; step daughter, Stacey and her husband, Joey Brown and step grandson, Brandon all from Spartanburg. Mr. Jacobs was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Veneklasen.
A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held Thursday February 9, 2017 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Bishopville, SC at 11AM with Reverend John Culp officiating.
