Pauline Francisca Blackwood

Paulina Francisca Blackwood was born on September 1, 1925, in Panama City, Panama. She was the daughter of the late Claude Wilson and Sylvia Campbell. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 she departed her earthly life for her heavenly home.

Paulina completed her primary education at Republica de Venezuela and attended High School at the Instituto Nacional, both in her native Republic of Panama.  She worked as a commissary cashier for the United States Armed Forces at Corozal Panama Canal Zone until 1979. In 1979 she immigrated to the United States and lived in Brooklyn, New York.  She worked as an Executive Chef for Chase Bank on 6th Avenue, also known as the Avenue of the Americas, in Manhattan, New York from 1979 to 1995 when she retired. 

Paulina enjoyed reading the bible and quoting scripture, crossword puzzles, watching classic movies and cooking.

In addition to her parents, Paulina is preceded in death by her late husbandsArnold Blackwood (d.1951), a Merchant Marine, and Jennings Gordon Blackett (d.2002),the 1938 CentralAmerican and Caribbean Games,100 meter gold medalist (10.4 seconds). She is also preceded by her daughter Gloria Blackett. 

Paulina taught her children to value reverence towards their family elders and to care and provide for them in their senior years. She was a devoted mother of nine children and is survived by eight: Carlos (Alejandrina) Blackwood, Nelva (Humberto) Turner, Julia (Jessie) Gordon, Maritza (Eddie) Cole, Vielka (Modesto) Alvarez, Jackeline (Luis, deceased) Marquez, Sonia (Hubert) Wagstaff and Johnny (Yesenia) Blackett. Her legacy continues in 30 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren, 4 nieces and 12 nephews.
