John Claudious Brazell

December 11, 1943 – September 22, 2020

John C. Brazell, 76, of Hopkins, SC died September 22, 2020. He passed peacefully at home in the presence of family and friends after fighting a courageous battle with cancer and kidney disease.

Born December 11, 1943 in Columbia, SC, he was the son of Claudious John and Mary Browder Brazell.  John was predeceased by his wife, Dale Medlin (Deasy), his parents, and his brothers James and Ronnie.  He attended Lower Richland High School in Hopkins, SC, after which he served in the Army National Guard of SC and was honorably discharged in 1992, and enrolled in the US Army Reserve Control Group until retiring in 2003.

He is survived by his son John Brazell, Jr., daughter Michelle Brazell (Earl Cunningham), special granddaughters Courtney and Kaley, 6 other grandchildrenand 2 great grandchildren that he dearly loved, and brothers Charles (Sue) and Donald, and special family members.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26 at 1:00 at Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home, 4645 Hard Scrabble Road. Following the funeral service, family and friends will gather at Frank and Louise’s house. A graveside service will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery for immediate family only on Tuesday, September 29 at 10:00 am.
