Elizabeth ‘Liz’ White died on April 26, 2020 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was 83 years old.
Born on January 7, 1937 in Panama, Republic of Panama. The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walker-Wallace. While in Panama, Elizabeth met Mr. Oscar ‘White’ White, U.S. Army Sergeant. They married in June 1965. Liz and White relocated to Texas with their five children. Mrs. White maintained her faith as a Christian, throughout their many military moves, and shared her faith with her children.
Liz had a laugh that was distinctive and a brilliant smile, (revealing her gold tooth). She was very artistic, always willing to try a new craft. Liz had a passion for sewing, shopping, playing the lottery; and traveling. Many times traveling became shopping trips; leaving White to find a way to bring home all of Lizs’ bargains. Her greatest love was for her children and grandchildren. (the aggravation).
Elizabeth was slowed down by a major stroke in December 2008. Liz was able to live out her remaining years in her home; and maintained a healthy life due to the dedicated and loyal support of her daughter Sonia Russell. A bottle of hot sauce was permanently by her hand. Liz continued to host many family gatherings in her home. She traveled to Florida, Texas, and Virginia visiting family, friends and enjoying celebrations.
Mrs. White is survived by her children: son Alberto Walker (Delores); son Edwardo Russell; daughter Sonia Russell; son Carlos Russell (Suk); son Antonio Walker (Sabrina); her sister Dorita Osavio; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; as well as many extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Oscar; sister Irene Horton; brother Samuel Walker; and grandsons Nicholas Walker and Gary Walker.
Visitation and memorial will be held at Kornegay & Moseley on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 1:00pm. Internment will be held privately. Everyone is welcome to join the family in celebrating the wonderful life of Mrs. Elizabeth White.
