Yves M. Charles passed away peacefully at home on February 27, 2019 at age 51 after a long battle with cancer.
Yves (Tiyayi/Yayi) was born December 5, 1967 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti to O’Gerard Charles and Rosena Charles. He was raised in Brooklyn, NY until relocating to Columbia, South Carolina in 2001. He was a professional CDL truck driver for over 20years. He had been employed by Builders First Source until his illness in 2016. In his over 20 years of driving, he received multiple driver safety awards and traveled across the united states.
Yves loved his family and friends and especially loved being on the road seeing the country in his rig, sometimes with his family in tow. When he was home for downtime, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, and sons and cheering on his New York Jets. He relished cooking and trying new and creative recipes in general, but he really enjoyed listening/singing to his favorite reggae songs while grilling/smoking foods on the weekends for his family. He was also a certified mechanic and enjoyed working on cars and trucks in his spear time.
He is survived by his wife Donna, and his sons Matthew, Daniel (and daughter in law Jayme Keefer-Charles), and Christian Charles,Mother Rosena Charles, Father O’Gerard Charles, Mother-in-law Gloria Samuels, Brother Henri Gerard Charles, Sister Marie Jo Charles (and brother in law Harold Dasque), Sister Laurena Mora (and brother in law Mario Mora), Sister in law Orvia Marie Cushnie as well as several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family and friends will be received at Kornegay & Moseley funeral home 4645 Hardscrabble Rd. Columbia, SC 29229 on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The burial will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11:00am.
