Edward Bruce Matthews Obituary
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Edward Bruce Matthews, 79, of Columbia will be held at 12 noon Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Kornegay & Moseley, 4645 Hard Scrabble Road. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Veterans Administration.
Mr Matthews passed away Saturday January 5, 2019. He was born in Baytown, Texas and was the son of the late Charlie Matthews and Ruth Vincent. Mr. Matthews retired after 30 years of service in the US Army and was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church. He enjoyed fantasy football and golf and was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Matthews is survived by his loving wife, Youko Matthews; children, Christina Allen and Paula Matthews; granddaughter, Victoria Allen; siblings, Mike Matthews, Lisa Ratliff and Melody Smith.
