Craig Farison Obituary

   Craig Taylor Farison of Columbia, SC, formally of Southfield, Michigan, East Lansing, Michigan and Atlanta, Georgia, passed away July 8, 2019.  He is survived by his wife, Amanda Fant-Farison, of Columbia, SC., his daughter, Nicole Renee Farison, of Washington, DC, his stepdaughters, Lacy SinclairReese and her husband, D’Metrus, of Columbia, SC. and Carly Sinclair Brown and her husband, Russell, of Atlanta, GA.  

   Craig was born in Toledo, OH on December 1, 1946.  He was the son of Glenn and Marjorie Taylor Farison, deceased, formally of Northwest Ohio. Craig enlisted in the US Army where he served as a parachute rigger with the 82nd Airborne Division stateside, before being assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division in the Republic of Vietnam.

Craig studied pre-law at Michigan State University.  He learned to fly and earned a private pilot license during college.  He also became a licensed real estate agent while in school.  Craig eventually purchased and managed student-rental properties while in East Lansing, MI.  During his life, he also owned rental properties in Atlanta, Ga. and Columbia, SC.  Craig settled on a career in Commercial Building Restoration as an estimator and project manager for large construction companies based in Atlanta, GA.  

   Craig loved boating on Lake Lanier, GA, golfing and cheering for the Michigan State Spartans. 

Craig retired in 2006 and moved from Atlanta, GA to Columbia, SC. Craig enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Mandy. In retirement, Craig operated a small landscaping business to help his friends within his neighborhood.  

   Craig will be laid to rest at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC on July 12, 2019 at 3pm.

The family will greet friends and honor Craig’s memory at Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home on 4645 Hardscrabble Road, Columbia SC at 1:00pm on Friday, July 12th and with the memorial service beginning at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel.

The family would like to thank our community and many friends as well as all the doctors, nurses and staff at William Dorn VA hospital for all the care and support they provided Craig during this difficult time.
