Charles Woods Obituary


Charles J. Woods III passed away on December 17, 2018 at age 56 after a brief lung illness.
 
Charles (Charlie/Chip) was born April 15, 1962 in Manchester, NH to Charles and Beatrice (Willette) Woods.  He served in the US Navy from 1980 until 1988 and was a truck driver for over 30 years.  He had been employed by G&P Trucking since 2008.  In his over 30 years driving, he competed in many driving competitions and received multiple trophies and awards.  Charlie loved his family and friends and loved being on the road seeing the country in his rig.  When he was home for downtime, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and watching sports.  He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots Fan.
 
Charlie was predeceased by his father Charles Jr. and sister in law Carole.  He is survived by his wife of 30 years Sandy, daughters Danielle (and boyfriend Ray) and Kristin (and son in law Marcus), mother Bea, brothers Jim (and sister in law Holly) and Tom (and sister in law Angela), sister in law Pat (and brother in law Al), brother in law Dick (and sister in law Lynette), nieces Sarah and Maddie, nephew Luke, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 
Family and friends will be received at Kornegay & Moseley funeral home 4645 Hardscrabble Rd. Columbia, SC 29229 on January 8, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  A mass of Christian burial will be held on January 9, 2019 at 10:00am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 100 Polo Rd. Columbia, SC 29223.  Burial will follow at 12:00pm at Ft. Jackson Cemetery 4170 Percival Rd. Columbia, SC  29229.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ARDS Foundation (www.ardsglobal.org).
