Stella Walch

Stella Jane Matthews Walch passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

Stella was born in Nash County North Carolina on December 25, 1954, to the late Charles Daniel “Bill” Matthews Jr & Evelyn Medlin Matthews.  She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years Jerry Walsh of Columbia, SC, son Daniel Brent, wife Crystal, & granddaughter Katie Morgan of Louisburg NC, sister Sandy Matthews of Rocky Mount, NC along  with a host of cousins including HG Matthews Jr & wife Marianne of Nashville NC & Everette Lindsay Matthews of Castalia NC.

Stella was a friend to all & brought joy to so many lives.  From work colleagues that became lifelong friends to strangers in the woods of WV where she loved to go off-roading that became family at Black Dog Offroad Resort & beyond.  All were welcomed into Stella’s friendship circle with open arms.

Stella’s favorite place was outside in the sun! She took great pride in maintaining her yard in South Carolina and working alongside her many long-term neighbors at White Lake in North Carolina.  While family came first, her friendships, both new & old, were invaluable to her.  If there was fun to be had, you can bet that Stella was there – in the middle cheering on the laughter. She will be greatly missed by all.
