A graveside service for Thomas F. Childress, 78, of Columbia will be held at 2:00 pm Monday September 26, 2016 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with Dr. Mark Bredholt Officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday September 25, 2016 at Kornegay & Moseley, 4645 Hard Scrabble Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.
Mr. Childress passed away Wednesday September 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. Mr. Childress retired from the US Army after 23 years of service and also retired from civil service at Fort Jackson. One of Mr. Childress greatest joys was his grandchildren.
Mr. Childress is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Childress; daughters, Sandra Landry and Linda Childress; grandchildren, John, Beth, Jody, Christopher, Hannah and Jonathan; siblings, George Childress and Amy Day.
