A memorial service for Sally Saunders Bassin, of Columbia, will be held at 7pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Unity of Columbia, 1801 Legrand Rd, Columbia, SC 29223. An additional service will be held in Cuthbert, GA as well. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MIRCI, 3809 Rosewood Dr, Columbia, SC 29205.
Ms. Bassin passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the age of 63. Born in Cuthbert, GA on October 16, 1951 she was the daughter of the late Charles Willard Saunders and Alice Lucille Watson Saunders. She was a member of the Alice Drive Baptist Church in Sumter. Sally was a loving mother, passionate grandmother and good friend to others. Her career was helping people with mental illness and the State of South Carolina, and animals, especially cats.
She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Sarah (Ashley) Bruton and Margrethe Nobles; grandchildren, Sean and Molly Bruton; stepmother, Lunelle Saunders.
