Columbia- Roy Clinton Staton, age 78, died Thursday September 28, 2017 at Lexington Medical Center due to heart failure.
Mr. Staton is survived by a wife, Helen, three children: Tracey, Kim and Patrick. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Christopher, Lance, Jessica, Christina, Valerie, Jamie, Dustin and seven great grandchildren: Michael, Maddie, Arron, Samantha, Kayleigh, JoJo, Emma.
Roy is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals to include the Air Force Commendation Medal. Mr. Staton’s devotion to duty and personal integrity lead him to the ranks of Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. His conduct and performance set the example for others to emulate and was a true asset to our military force. He grew up in Greenville, SC, and is the fourth son of Edwin and Mary Staton. After retiring from the Air Force, he perused a civil service job to continue his efforts to support military logistics missions.
Services will be held this Wednesday at 9-10:30am at Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home, and he will be interred at Fort Jackson Cemetery with military honors.
