Roslyn Ann McNamara, 68, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 7, 2018,
surrounded by her family’s love. Roslyn was born to American parents in Lima, Peru, on November 2,
1949. She moved to Virginia when she was 18 to attend Sullins College and Virginia Tech and later
moved to New Jersey, Georgia and South Carolina. At various times in her life, she worked as a teacher
and taught countless children in the beauty of the Spanish language. She was preceded in death by her
father, Joseph Reece of Jonesboro, TN, and mother, Margaret Porter Reece of Roanoke, VA, who met
and married in Lima where they lived for 20 years. Roslyn, a proud and loving mother, is survived by her
two sons, David Joseph McNamara and William Charles McNamara, both of Columbia, SC. She is also
survived by her brother, Richard Reece and wife, Jane, of Quechee, VT; son, Jamie and wife, Mary Ellen,
of Avon, CT; and their four children: Louisa, Charlotte, Richard and Annie, and her beloved “Kitty Kat”.
She was known for her elegant, generous and especially humble nature by all who knew her. "Chita" will be remembered lovingly as always seeing the best in others and never forgetting to do the little
things that made big differences in all the people’s lives she touched. The
family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the terrific nurses and aids at PruittHealth
Hospice and BrightStar for the professional and tender care they provided in her final days.
