MSGT Robert Earl McGowan, US Army (RET.), 85, of Columbia, SC, died Thursday, April 20, 2017. He was born in Greenville, NC, the son of the late Dewey McGowan and Lena Dudley. A service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Inc., 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
Robert is survived by his wife, Patricia Anne Haslam McGowan; daughters, Darlene Hale of Atlanta, GA, Holly Pearson of Greenville, NC; Lisa Hudson of Lexington, SC and Robin McCall of Columbia, SC; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Robert was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Godfrey; granddaughter, Michelle Godfrey; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
