Pearl Young Lowrance COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Pearl Young Lowrance (known as P.Y.), 86, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2016, at Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home, Columbia Chapel, 4645 Hardscrabble Road. Mr. Lowrance died Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Dorn VA Medical Center. Born in Mooresville, North Carolina on June 24, 1930, he was a son of the late Samuel Alexander Lowrance and Pearl Robinson Lowrance. Surviving is his wife, Josephine Eibl Lowrance; children Bobby (Debbie) Lowrance of Columbia; Eddy (Alisha) Lowrance of Blythewood; Debrah (Steve) Comalander of Chapin; and Miko Lowrance of Columbia; sibling Samuel Lowrance of Mooresville, NC; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by siblings, Carl Lowrance, Jimmy Lowrance, Alma Oliphant, Carl Lowrance, Grady Lowrance and Gertrude Lowrance Skipper; and grandson, Chad Lowrance. PY served in the United States Army from 1948-1970, serving in Vietnam, Korea, Japan and Germany.After retiring from the service, he worked as a civilian in the Supply Division at Fort Jackson as the Property Book Officer and in the college bookstore at Columbia Junior College in Columbia. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need. During his later years, he battled countless health issues.
