A graveside service for John Perry Sykula, Sr. will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday February 26, 2013 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with military rites. Memorials may be made to Centennial ARP Church, 1413 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or Campus Crusade for Christ, 100 Woodsview Lane, Columbia, SC 29223.
Mr. Sykula passed away Saturday February 23, 2013. Born in Lockport, NY, he was the son of the late John Franklin and Mary Catherine Bednatz Sykula. Mr. Sykula graduated from Lockport High School and attended New York University, Buffalo. He was the owner and operator of John Sykula Construction and was a WWII US Army veteran. Mr. Sykula was a member of Centennial ARP Church and a former Deacon.
Mr. Sykula is survived by his wife Josephine Sykula; son, John Sykula, Jr. of Columbia; daughter, Sheryl (Skidmore) Logan of Columbia; grandchildren, Dr. Melissa Logan of Shelby, NC, Jenna (Jared) Garraux, Esq. of Columbia, Stephanie (Andrew) Clayton of Greenville, Kristen Logan of Columbia and Skidmore (Nikki) Logan, III of Odenton, Maryland and great grandchildren, Nina Winters Garraux, Gavin Skidmore Garraux, Juliette Berne Garraux and Hudson William Garraux. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters.
