John “Joseph” McGill died at his home on May 26, 2017 in Elgin, SC. He was 83 years old.
Mr. McGill was born on November 13, 1933 in Bridgeport, Ct to his parents, Charles & Katherine McGill. He graduated from the Bridgeport public school system with a High School Diploma. Mr. McGill worked as a Railroad Engineer with “Amtrak” for 52 years and was dedicated to his profession and truly loved driving trains.
Mr. McGill was a long time member of “St. John Neumann Catholic church” on Polo Rd in Columbia, SC. and had a wonderful relationship with God. Mr. McGill was loved and adored by all who knew him. Mr. McGill had an enormoussense of humor and unconditional love for everyone he met.
Mr. McGill is survived by his partner of 36 years, Gilbert Baptista-McGill, 4 brother-in-laws, 5 sister-in-laws, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and family.
Viewing for Mr. McGill will be held on Sunday June 4, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services for Mr. McGill will be held on Monday June 5, 2017 at 2:00 pm at St. John Neumann Catholic Church and burial services will be held at Green Haven Cemetery immediately following the service at the church.
