A service to celebrate the life of Jerald “Jerry” E. Martin will be held 12:00 noon Friday May 20, 2016 at Spring Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Winburn officiating. Burial will follow the service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday May 19, 2016 at Kornegay & Moseley. Mr. Martin passed away Sunday May 15, 2016 at his home. He was born in Danese, W.VA. and was the son of the late John and Grace Martin. Mr. Martin served in the US Air Force and retired after 20 years of service as a Lt. Colonel and retired from the state of South Carolina as a bridge design engineer. He was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church where he had served as a substitute Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Martin is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Sue Martin; daughters, Diane (Greg) Gunter and Lynn (John) Davis; son, Eric (Jenny) Martin; granddaughters, Stephanie Profilet (David), Michelle (Trevor) Griggs, Nikki Thilgis and Christine Thilgis (Tim); grandsons, Garrett Davis, Art Von Marton, Brandon (Leslie) Gunter and James (Lanae) Gunter; great granddaughters, Jayden, Kinsley and Madi Gunter.
