A funeral service to celebrate the life of Geraldine "Jerri" Jones Rodgers, 78, of Elgin will be held 12:00 noon Thursday September 14, 2017 at Spring Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Winburn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to The Gideons International, Columbia East Camp, PO Box 23223, Columbia, SC 29224.
Jerri passed away Friday September 8, 2017 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Dalton and Bertha Thigpen Jones. Jerri was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church and was a Auxiliary member of The Gideons International.
Jerri is survived by her husband Jim Rodgers; daughter, Becky (David) Rogers; grandchildren, Andrew (Jamie) Rogers and Joshua (Chantelle) Rogers; great grandchildren, Levi and Parker Rogers; sister, Thelma Costner. Jerri was preceded in death by her son, Chris Rodgers and siblings, Perry Jones and Dalton D. Jones, Jr.
