George (Morty) Berry

George Mortimer “Morty” Berry, Jr. passed away on Thursday April 21, 2016. He was born in Sumter, SC to the late George Mortimer Berry, Sr. and Paula Collier Berry on October 7, 1953. Morty graduated from Eau Claire High School and was employed at Palmetto Health Richland for 29 years and Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 5 years before retiring. Morty is survived by his wife Kathleen “Kat” Murray; daughters, Melanie, Amanda and Kelly; sisters, Sherry Kelly, Georgia (Doug) Heise and Donna Wood and many other family members and friends. Morty was a very kind and caring man who loved his family and will be missed.
Morty was an avid fan of the late Dale Earnhardt and NASCAR racing. In remembrance of Morty, please raise a toast to him on the starting lap of a NASCAR race or make a memorial to the charity of your choice.
