Evelyn Carter Wood

Evelyn Carter Wood, 92, of Columbia, SC passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at PruittHealth-Blythewood. She was born July 7, 1923 in Martinsville, VA. Evelyn and Blaine Wood owned and operated BEWOOD Paint & Decorating in Camden, SC for many years.

Evelyn is survived by her brother, George A. Carter Jr. of Gainesville, GA; children, Townesy Bowers (John) and George B. Wood Jr. (Kathy); grandchildren, Scott, Megan, Cynthia, and Julia; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Scotty, Sierra, Blaine and Hudson.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 68 years, George Blaine Wood; parents, George and Evelyn Carter; sisters, Mary Myers, Jingle Fulcher, and Jett Groves.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home. Evelyn will be buried beside her husband at a graveside service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 11am followed by a celebration of her life service at 12:30pm Friday, August 7, 2015 in the chapel of Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home, 4645 Hard Scrabble Rd, Columbia, SC 29229.

The family expresses special appreciation to caregivers and staff at PruittHealth-Blythewood, Pruitt Hospice, and the Kornegay & Moseley staff.
