Welcome to the memorial page for

Evelyn Elizabeth Elmer

September 8, 1943 ~ January 9, 2015 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Evelyn Elizabeth (Jones) Elmer, was born on September 8, 1943, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the beloved daughter of the late Cora Lee Dunn and Frank Jones of Marietta, Georgia. She departed this earthly life unexpectedly on the evening of Friday, January 9, 2015 at the age of 71 at her home in Columbia, South Carolina.

She graduated from Soldan High School in St Louis, MO, and later earned a diploma from the Post Graduate School of Nursing, in Chicago, Illinois. She worked in the fields of Nursing and Customer Service and later as a stay-at-home mother/grandmother once she was deemed retired and disabled.

“Mrs. Elmer” was a smart, spunky, and resilient lady, a cancer survivor, and a lover of music and singing just the same.  Her passions included playing B-I-N-G-O and spades, working puzzles, watching westerns and WWE, as well as cooking for her family and of course, playing Facebook games.

Evelyn was a spiritual woman of God who could quote the bible inside and out. Upon moving to South Carolina to support her daughter’s military obligation, she became a member of Windsor Lake Church of Christ.

Left to cherish her memories are:  her best friend and caregiver, Sharon; sister, Carolyn; brother, Errol and his wife Mary; children: Deneil, Ralph and his wife Angela, Camilla, Victoria and her husband William, Clarence and his wife Ruth, Delores and her husband Donald, Victor and his wife Antoinette, Margret, Lavern, Ronnie, Mark, and Marsha; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 2pm, with a visitation 1hr prior, on Friday, January 16, 2015 in the chapel of Kornegay& Moseley Funeral Home, 4645 Hard Scrabble Rd, Columbia, followed by a gathering of family and friends at Windsor Lake Church of Christ, 238 Windsor Pointe Rd, Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers and plants, donations and condolences may be provided to the family.
